Upon arrival in Rotorua, check-in to your hotel.

Included Excursion: Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland - Click here for more information

Upon arrival in Rotorua, following the check-in at your hotel, drive out to the thermal area of Waiotapu, one of the world’s most colourful thermal areas. See the Artist’s Palette where different minerals form areas on the pool surface, view the tiny bubbles surfacing in the Champagne Pool and walk down alongside the silica terrace to see the Bridal Veil Falls as well as other thermal activity.

Included Excursion: Tamaki Maori Village - Click here for more information

This evening visit Tamaki Māori Village for Te Pā Tū. The evening experience and feast is aligned to and changes with the maramataka (Māori lunar calendar). Feast on Māori song, tradition, and divine seasonal kai (cuisine) within the forest Pā (village) amidst towering Tawa trees, blazing bonfires, and a forest-formed amphitheatre. Hākari (feasting) begins with forest horotai (canapes) and culminates in a lavish 4-course fusion feast. Hāngi is featured in varied seasonal menus designed by Māori chefs served to table, al fresco when warm, or in the wharekai (dining room) if cooler.

Wednesday 22nd February

Rotorua to Napier

Following breakfast at your hotel, travel south to Taupo, nestled on the shores of New Zealand’s largest lake, stopping at Huka Falls where the clear waters of the Waikato River gush through narrow gap in the rocks, then continue through the town and around the shores of the lake turning east to travel past large pine plantations before driving over the ranges, through the Eskdale Valley and into Hawkes Bay and the city of Napier.

After a devastating earthquake Napier was rebuilt in 1931 in the Art Deco style. Art Deco began as a French artistic movement and its decorative style is recognisable from the distinctive motifs, rich colours and fine craftsmanship which became widely poplar in the 1920’s.

Included Excursion: Mission Estate Winery Tour - Click here for more information

This afternoon, visit the Mission Estate Winery for a tour and wine tasting. Established in 1851 by the French Marist religious order, Mission Estate is New Zealand’s oldest winemaker. Housed in an elegantly restored historic seminary building with sweeping views of Napier, the award-winning Mission Estate Restaurant serves exquisite cuisine influenced by seasonal produce.
