Saturday 28th – Sunday 29th September
Depart from London Heathrow for your international flight to Islamabad.
Arrive in Islamabad and transfer to the Pearl Continental Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
Monday 30th September
Experience one of the most scenic flights in the world, passing over the lush green lower hills of the Himalayas and alongside the 8,125-meter-high Nanga Parbat, the 9th highest peak in the world. Cross into the rugged peaks of the Karakoram, many over 7,000 meters, with four towering above 8,000 meters.
Upon landing, start sightseeing with a visit to Katura Lake, a glacier lake at an elevation of 2,500 meters with a depth of 70 meters. Visit Kharpocho Fort, the oldest historical monument in Skardu, built in the 16th century at the junction of the Shigar and Indus rivers. A half-hour walk to the top offers bird’s-eye views of the Skardu Valley, with partial views available for those unable to complete the full walk. See the Buddha figure carved on rocks dating back to the 8th century when Buddhism thrived in the region.
Drive to your hotel, Serena Shigar Fort for your two-night stay.
Tuesday 1st October
Explore local culture through village walks and have the opportunity to meet local people.
Wednesday 2nd October
Drive 330 km to Hunza. Leave the expansive Skardu Valley and enter the Indus Gorge, a narrow passage carved out of sheer rocks, a marvel of construction engineering. Local people create miles-long water channels from glacier sources to irrigate their terraced fields, described as a land of vertical deserts and hanging gardens. Several photo stops en route.
Check in to the Serena Karimabad for your two-night stay.
Thursday 3rd October
Visit Hunza, known for its peace and tranquility, where many live to be a hundred years old. Visit the women’s handicraft center in Gulmit, where talented women preserve the centuries-old tradition of carpet weaving and handicrafts.
Visit the Hussaini Suspension Bridge, a local photographic icon, and Attabad Lake. Enjoy an afternoon cricket match in Passu with local youths, followed by dinner in a traditional house with a local family.
Friday 4th October
Morning visit to Hoper Village for an overview of the Hoper Glacier. Afternoon drive to Gilgit, 100 km, approximately 3 hours.
Check into the Serena Baltit for your one-night stay.
Saturday 5th October
Check out of your hotel for your domestic flight to Islamabad. Upon arrival, transfer to the Pearl Continental for your one-night stay.
Sunday 6th October
Check out of your hotel and transfer to Multan (7hrs) to join the group.
